The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) plans to widen NC 160 from NC 49 (South Tryon Road) to SR 1116 (Shopton Road West). According to NCDOT, the project had been mostly idle since late 2019. The project budget is $3,100,000 and will impact 185 parcels of land. Right-of-way acquisition (ROW) is scheduled to begin in the late summer of 2024 and utilities will begin being relocated in late summer of 2023. Construction is expected to last for three years.
